Yeah, so if you've never heard of them before, you should start.

I started this to talk about Cloud Cult, about their lyrics, meanings, favourite songs, or whatever you can think of that is Cloud Cult related.

First off,

Anyone have the Shade Project lying around?

Yeah, just lying around. I think - oh, dang, I just snapped in clean in half. Sorry about that. Now there are only two copies in the world.

I kinda thought I would have been the one to start this thread. Let me tell you, Cloud Cult is so awesome. More on that later.

Yes, but two copies is easier to find then one. I will find it!

Anyways, in your interest.

Who plays the ocarina? Or is it an ocarina at all? I've been thinking about this. Perhaps it's only a keyboard. Most of the songs featuring the ocarina are on happy hippo, so maybe they just learned how to play it?

I don't know.

Oh, it's definitely a synth.

As for lyrics, I suspect that the clearest way to represent what Cloud Cult means is in the following line from Happy Hippo:
You'd best learn to live while you're alive

While searching for lyrics, I came across this interview with Craig Minowa:

That's an interesting interview. I suppose that your right with the one liner representing Cloud Cult, since most of that interview is about making the most of what he can even though he still lives with a lot of questions. It's cool that he can still think that after everything.

Craig is an amazing lyricist as well (if that's how you spell it). I envy him sometimes. Well, anytime I listen to his songs. I like how he can be talking about most anything, but relate it or compare it back to something that's odd and quirky. Like in the deaf girls song,

"Somebody sing us a song that makes us feel like the coolest kid on the first day of school"

It's a comparison that's hard to explain and easier to feel, and I love that.

Plus he describes things awkwardly.

"Bobby's got a space suit made out of squirrel skin"

Don't ask me what it means, but he's got a mind for creativity and a touch for putting it in writing.
