This little program is useful. Could I manage to open programs using things other than my voice?

For example, playing certain chords on the guitar would write a corresponding letter in a text editing program. I would be able to write my english essays by playing guitar!

I need to know of it's adaptability. Are tangents like this possible?

Hmm I'm not sure if that's possible. I don't think it is but you can try nonetheless.

Some of those chord progressions might sound pretty crappy, though. Certain chords just don't work together.
