We'll I was talking to my buddy chris the other day over msn, when by chance we stumbled onto the topic of when we do certian things best. For example, have you ever noticed that sometimes, when something happens that seems out of the ordinary, sometimes we acctually do an unreated task better. Like we can run farther on a sunny warm day, then a cool rainy one. Even though the rainy cool one should increase out distance.

Basically, oddities like that. Then we moved onto the topic of when do we do philosophy best. Chris said something about late at night when he is tired. I thought for a moment, then I realized that I'm actually best at philosophy... when I have a bottle in hand.

No joke.

Infact every time in the past in where I've had to write anything along the lines of philosophy. I've been rip roaringly drunk. And everytime I have written something along those lines when in that condition, my work has been drastically better then when I'm sober.

Kinda intresting anyways.

Also, while we were on the topic, he brought up something else. when I'm drunk I go from being an average boxer, to a above average one. Not suggesting that I'm a master of Zui Quan (spelling?) or anything, but apparently my corordination goes intense when i'm... yep you guessed it "plastered".

Anyways, all in all, I found out I actually become a better human being when I'm in that way. Kinda made me laugh when I sat down and thought about it.

Yep, so thats my odd talent that comes from an odd place, you guys got anything of the sort?

Kinda like how smokers are always the fast runniers and the non smokers are always the ones coughing and hacking a lung at the end of the run?

And thus, the Drunken Philosopher's Guild.

I disagree completely with this. I know many smokers who could barely run, let alone run fast and who cough and hack enough without even running.

yeah...
hm.
The Australian Pink Floyd Show (official cover band) came to Ontario once, and my dad, due to certain connections, got to go back stage and whatnot. He spoke with one of the guys in the band. The tale he told proceeds in such a manner:

We played in Germany, where performers are provided with free beer beforehand. Well, we got a bit plastered and ended up having the best time on stage. We did great! Everyone was having fun.

Also in Germany, most performances are taped. Well, just for memories I acquired a tape of this certain event.

It was just embarrassing. We were awful.

To tell the truth, I've never been drunk. Perhaps I'm afraid of the person I'm hiding. But hey, if a person like Megell can wax philosophical, maybe I have nothing to fear?

Personally, I would not try it out. I don't care if it would help me to excel in one area to a certain degree. I don't like influences like that might change me. I, for the most part, am happy with being who I am. Sure there are places I need to improve, but why figure it out with alcohol, cigarettes, or even coffee for that matter?
A lot of people say that it's great getting drunk, but I like the fact that I have never been drunk or even had a buzz for that matter. I have not had even a casual drink with my parents in over a year. My reasons for this are that I like knowing what's going on and I feel almost on a high in knowing that.
The minds of people who have experimented with alcohol to the degree of being drunk have their mind tainted in such a way where they drink just for the "fun" it brings, when really it makes them look like an ass.

Anyway... That's my little rant for tonight.

Coretech's that is a good point, but your forgetting that you can't diss something until you've tried it. (I admit that is arguable as well.) But the thing is, remember each person holds there booze differnetly, and even if it gives me mad philosphing skills, and improves my boxing to an insain degree. It doesn't mean that the draw backs are actually less the the benifits. On a whole the thing is this; I get maybe 3-4 benifits from being drunk, I become nicer, I become more thoughtful to people, and the other mentioned pluses. But the thing is, when I'm like that, the draw backs are insain. I can bairly walk, bairly talk, and most importantly bairly sex.

Yes, the draw backs certianly exceed the benifits. But the thing is were talking about when do you get a intresting plus from somthing that is unreated to what you expect?

Drunk=stoopid.

I've encountered many unpleasant experiences with drunk people and I myself would never drink. It's just... yuck. Besides, I, like Casey, fear what side of me may pop up while 'under the influence.'

Nope. Dan holds the internet in contempt. He abuses it for torrents and then completely ignores it.

Also: Megell. "Can't diss it til you've tried it"?? Come on. I expected more from you.

Cyanide. Ever tried it? No. Ever will? No, because it's STUPID. Can you look down on people who take cyanide for recreational purposes? Yes BECAUSE THEY'RE DEAD.
Alcohol is a poison. I don't need to try it. There are many things I'll never try. Cyanide is certainly one of them. Also peeing on electric fences. Also using rubbing alcohol in place of aftershave.
These things I will not try.

Well casey, you know I'm not telling you to go out and get smashed if you don't want to. and by no way is this a constant thing for me, but I do do it. Occassionally... (and kinewa, shut up before you even say it! lol) The thing is, I'm not forcing it in your face, and I won't, but like wise I don't want the whole drinking is the devil thing in my face from someone who doesn't have the same experiances as me. Thus, no matter which way we word this, the points will just contradict each other. So lets stop right there.

Also, if I remember rightly, someone here DID use rubbing alchole in the sted of after shave...

After they shaved there head bald.

I wonder which ninja that was?

I'm confused, If you ARE going to use out of character references, maybe you could give us a little backstory nexttime?
