Harry Potter

It was pretty crazy to stay up 'til midnight for a book, but I had lots of fun. That, and hopefully this time I can read it all before someone spoils the ending for me. If you don't see me around for a little bit, it's because I'm avoiding Mizukage for that exact reason.
Please don't hate me for liking Harry Potter. It's just as evil as Lord of the Rings and Mary Poppins. And we all know they're straight from hell.

And please don't sully Tolkein's name by mentioning his works in any comparison with "Rowling"'s. There is no comparison in writing skills (I mean, at all), and the purpose behind the Potter books is to make billions of dollars selling rights to toy companies that provide McDonalds and bookstores.
Ten years from now nobody will have ever heard of Harry Potter, unless of course that money-grubbing miscreant does decide to make another forty books.

The writing style isn't perfect, but it's entertaining. To be honest, I don't really like Goerge Orwell but he's really well known for his stuff. And no, I'm not comparing Harry Potter to 1984.

The DaVinci Code. Entertaining? Sure. Can't put it down.
Well-written though? No! Well-researched? Oh hell no.
Does entertaining make a good book? No.

...AND I'M DONE!
Now now Casey, I have to admit that the Harry Books, while unfortunately overpopular, are quite good. The author manages to create dozens of memorable characters and plot points that tie together excellently.

Anyways, like kinewa said, harry potter is entertianing by to many, and I full heartedly agree it has a neat story... even though I don't personally like the francise. It for all intensive purposes will most likely be forgotton to time in say 30 years. Or when the next big book hype comes around...
[Hint: the next big book fad will either involve a book that makes people look smart... like the "code" or one that is so confusingly overcomplexed over simple things, that it atrracts intrest... like harry pot.])
ANYWAYS...
Kinewa you shock and horrify me... Cosplaying. Sigh.
I mean seriously, if your gunna do that, at least be ichego or maybe squall... at least they have stabbers.

Right: To Everyone, about writing styles - both Rowling and Tolkein have their own styles, and considering one was a University English professor, and the other was an elementary school teacher, their writing styles would respect the environments that they were constantly in. The End.
Moving back to DH-
Could I put it down? Nope.
Did I like it? I thought it was fair for the most part.
Now, I'm not the slavering HP fan I was about 6 years ago, but I still read the books, and so I don't have as close an affinity with the characters, but some people will be upset.
Also, I think there were a few parts that JK Rowling totally copped out on.
End!

And I didn't feel like cosplaying like a guy with a stabber... so mlah!
Then again... that could be fun.... Come to an anime convention with me, Megell?
