So I'm learning Django. I'm running it with sqlite for practice, and it's got its own cute little web server.

  • Django is a high-level Python Web framework that encourages rapid development and clean, pragmatic design.
As of now, April 24, 11:37am, I haven't done much, but it is of course only a beginning.

I have:
  • used Django to create an SQL database
  • made tables and entered fields and the like
My goals are to:
  • fix up Professionalman
  • create a simple user database to allow for registration (including a confirmation email) and login.
  • eventually, make something like Crescent Island or Kingdom of Loathing.
  • Alternatively, help Dolmant create the new Crescent Island, if I can motivate him.
I've got ideas. Oh yes.

I suppose I should mention that I'm learning all this from the Django documentation site
I've worked through the first tutorial and got distracted by the model and database api guides.

Yyyyeeeeaaaaahhhh. About that.
I'll, uh, come up with an excuse later.

I think my main problem was how the heck do you read and write from Django?
If I could figure that out (and hey, it might just take fresh eyes), I don't think there'd be any more trouble.

Why do you need to read/write files if you haves a database?

Because I don't want to enter everything by hand into a shell window.
Actually, it seems to me that I managed to read just fine... I wonder what happened to that...
I'll look into it some time.
