#1585 Jokes
Posted by DarkAngel on 03 March 2006 - 05:44 PM in Chat-Box
Hum..I seem to remember a dirtier version of that....ok so i was going to go to lazer tag when my friend told me a joke it goes like this:there was 3kids and a magic slide and heres what the magic slide did:if you wnet down it and said your favorite color u would land in it.So the first one went down and he said coke. The next went down and he said sprite. Then the next one went down and said wwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeee! And you know what happens next...
Went something like this:
3 Kids we on top of a hill. A genie told them he would turn them into whatever they asked for as they slid down the kill.
The first kid slides down and goes "I wanna be a Tiger!" Poof he was a tiger.
The Second kid slides down and goes "I wanna be a Lion!" Poof he was a lion.
The third kid goes to slide down the hill, but trips and tumbles down yelling "Oh SHIT!" And yes at the bottom of the hill he was turned into a pile of shit.
Eh, that's the version I know....problem with jokes on forums is you lose the whole delivery and facial contortions.
Maybe if I find some clean jokes Ill post one.

#1531 Audio/Hardware Conflicts
Posted by DarkAngel on 24 February 2006 - 08:38 AM in General Help
Check the speakers, and/or reinstall driver. If you still get nothing it's quite possible your sound card fried. Test it with headphones as well.
Laptop
Reformat it. If it is a virus it's too far gone to really repair. Backup your data and reformat it. Or burn your hdd...but yeah...you need to get rid of whatever data/virus/whatever you got on there.
The memory problem is a bit different.
Games - typical of ram that is not working, or overheating in the case
Solution - Rum memtest86. If it passes, it has nothing ot do with your ram
p2p and secure - These both use special protocols which leads me to believe your tcp/ip stack is fuxored. You wouldnt get a memdump unless it was a buffer overflow within the system. If you could post the error code, that would help alot. But from the sound of it, it would hardly be your modem. Sounds like your computer is not reading the data on the protocals correctly.
Solution- Sadly, reformating again is your best bet. Sounds like your having one too many problems with your tcp/ip stack and there is no EASY way to fix it.
Hope that helps a bit. (Go Geek squad )

#1541 Sample Music
Posted by DarkAngel on 24 February 2006 - 04:14 PM in Music
Hehe, thanks!Well done! My only complaint is that the percussion in the first song sounds a little irregular, but I'm a drummer, so I'm probably a little more anal than average about drums. Either way, it all sounds awesome, and you have my support as a prospective team member.
Yeah the first one was my first attempt
Lol no need for support as a team member, drackypoo knows I'll do it for him. He helps me, I help him sorta thing. I just wanted to see what you guys thought

#2574 Advances in Computer Technology: Speculation
Posted by DarkAngel on 16 July 2006 - 08:57 AM in Chat-Box
Funny story about magnets and computers....my friend was working for UPS and it was around christmas time. They had just got in a shippment of Gateway computers and a shippment from a science facility near by. Well the science facility had sipped HUGE industrial magnets. The magnets caem down the metal slide first....but metal slide...magnets...they got stuck and would not slide down. So since the magnets where stuck the stuff behind it DOESNT stop...so boxs full of computers where rolling over these huge magnets and some of the computers fell off the slide and smashed on the ground.Well, I'm sure that there would have to be all sorts of shielding. Because, you see, a computer is basically a box of electromagnetic fields from the start.
And if you put a huge industrial magnet up to a computer, it will become what I prefer to refer to as "fried", with MRAM or no.
So the long and short of it is that a whole shippment of computers where completeled f'ed up due to these huge magnets they where rolling over...kinda funny.

#1511 Linux And Gaming
Posted by DarkAngel on 23 February 2006 - 10:36 AM in Chat-Box
Old topic I know, but I would like to revise what Drackir had said.AH but games that use DirectX (there are a very great many) cannot be used on linux without WineX and even that is limited (and expensive) from what I hear. There has however been a great increase in the amount of games and the compatibility of programs for linux. Things are looking up. May we all run linux soon!
Directx is fully supported in WINE. I run a dual boot of Fedora Core 4 and Windows. I've successfully got Visual Basics running in wine along with many many other DirectX games. Wine is completely free and runs just as well as windows does. (Heck I even got I-tunes to run in Wine ) I have yet to find a Direct X app that wont run in Linux.
Just thought I would clear that up.
